About Us

The Rahula Trust was founded in 1998 and is a fully registered charity in England & Wales (№ 1075742).

We raise funds to sponsor the education of some of the world’s poorest children.

Donors to the Trust come from many religious and social backgrounds.

Children are selected for sponsorship regardless of their faith, race, sex, or nationality. The only requirement is that they are poor and academically gifted.

Today, half of the world’s poorest countries are suffering, or have just emerged from, serious conflicts. Children, women and elderly people are 10 times more likely to be victims of conflict than soldiers. Millions are forced to flee their homes. At present, there are over 30 million refugees and they are among the poorest people in the world. In addition, there are many other children living in poverty who need help to enable them to obtain the benefits of a good education.

We all want to live in a peaceful and stable world. Without peace and security we cannot eliminate poverty. It is for these reasons that The Rahula Trust was set up to help children in need.

The Trust is run entirely by volunteers, which means we can keep our administrative costs to a minimum. We are small and efficient, without the expensive overheads of some organisations.
